will these brackets work with any racing seats?neutral wrote:I'm getting ready to install some as well. My seats are by DAD but style is like Corbeau and I've read past threads that the Corbeau brackets/rails for the 91-96 Escort are a direct fit for the MX-3.
This is the only place I've found them at so far. Hope to order from them in the next 2 weeks. (Click this link and then the "Click here for seat bracket info" and you'll see the part listing for the Escort)

They will, so I've been told, but you have to add a spacer to one side, since one is lower than the other. You may also have to drill new holes in the brackets to mount the seat to. I have heard that they will work with some ingenuity, but I seem to remember people reporting that the seat sat a little higher than normal.

Seem to remember reading that the higher seat position mainly results from trying to use unmodified or poorly modded stock brakets on aftermarket seats? Haven't ordered my brackets yet but will probably go with the ones on cardomain listed for Sparco's. Those apparently fit the Corbeau line as well and looks like they should fit my D.A.D.'s that have a similar design w/flat surface on the seat bottoms. I think that "racing" style might be generically referred to as Recaro style but not positive about that. Have also read that the Tenzo Rally seats (same kinda style) can use those same brackets as listed for Sparco/Corbeau/Recaro fitment on the Escort, in our cars.

Actually, neutral, you would be correct. I did a search, and it seems that you only have to modify the stock sliders if you choose to use those. I didn't choose that option, so I don't really know, but that's what I could come up with. I would imagine that sliders for any racing style seats should work with other racing seats, if not directly, with very little modifaction.
Good luck with your seats, man!

Another big problem is to mount side mounted racing seats. Anyone got a good solution for that?
I like the Cobra Imola seat, and it only has side mounts.
I'm tall and need the seat to be mounted as low as possible.
Do i really need Sparco Universal Seat Base http://www.cardomain.com/item/SPA00500 if I go for the bottom mount from Sparco? http://www.cardomain.com/item/SPA986
