VRIS stuff

Post by ScooterBovine »

Can someone sum this up? It's too technical for me to comprehend. However, I think that if I understood it better, I can better understand how the V6 engines work. Or, the VRIS portion of them anyways.

The length of the intake pipes vary depending on if you have the throttle more than 75% open and on the RPM of the engine. At different RPMs the butterfly valves can have four different setups; both closed, no. 1 opened and no. 2 closed, both opened, or no. 1 closed and no. 2 open.

Depending on the setups, it gives you different horse power curves through the whole RPM band.

I think it basically changes the overall length of the intake, keeping the air at a "resonant" state.. which basically means, you get more air flying through the air-in valves for more of the rev range = broader, more availble power band.

sorry to bring this thread back but the u tube is the tube that is to the left of the intake manifold when looking at the engine. so would it benifical for a k8 motor to have a kl u tube. cause the k8 intake manifold has the funky shaped u tube. and it would cause a loss of power to put the k8 u tube on the kl. do i have the theory correct or am i way out to lunch?
