v6 engine running like poop!

Post by hadj10 »

Hey everyone, after spending about 3 hours looking at old threads i'm deciding to post, b/c this problem is a little strange. Here it is....also the car is completely stock, no ecu mods or anything strange!

1) the idle is jumping anywhere from 200 - 1000 rpm and sometimes stalls
2) car will no longer take off smoothly without riding the clutch hard in first and second gear, is extremely jerky (i feel like i don't know how to drive stick)
3) Today it was 28 degrees out and the car was idling at 3000 rpm (first time this problem happend)

I am hoping someone can get me started on the right direction, i did read some things about ivc and stuff...but i have no idea where that is or how to clean it. So in your suggestions can you please be speceific.

Thank you and you help is greatly appreciated!

I'd agree with that, sounds pretty similar to what happened to mine when the hose cracked. Rough idling, sometimes stalling.

Pretty much what you said, makes you look like you can't drive... :)

It's not too expensive to fix, cost me about £40-£50 for part and fitting as far as I can remember.

My first guess would be the above responses. But what about a timing belt system related part? Could this cause similar symptoms?

Either a ribbed intake hose leak or she needs a good TPS adjustment.

 And after you check the intake tube for cracks, get some aerosol-spray carb cleaner and (with someone keepin it going with the gas-pedal, or you manually using the throttle cable on the TB) give it 1/3 a can worth. Try injecting it in one of the vacuum lines, and plug the other end with your finger/thumb so it wont stall...

if you hold a piece of a hose to your ear and move the other end around all the vacuum hoses you can hear air leaking it'll intensify the noisse and you can find a leak if you have one.
