19' RIMS on the MX-3?

19" rims will fit on a mx-3 with a little work i have 19"x8 axis spyders with 215/35/19 rubber on mine and ive had no problems

That's not bad, you should only be 1" larger in diameter than stock, which is only an effective .5" in relative to the car's chassis, so he could still stop it a fair bit

& theoretically you could fit up to a 24" rim on an mx3.

The stock wheel/tire combo diameter is 24.8" so if you can find a tire that only sticks out .8" on a 24" rim then get dem dubs y0.

Of course the smaller the tire's profile the ride degrades exponentially

but this is just in theory.

I have 17's on mine and i find them too big, i would not advise to go any bigger.
Mine rub the wheel well all the time, can be a really rough ride. I'm thinking of going smaller, maybe 16's if i can find some i like.

Wow, so many opinions and so little info to help the guy out. I say go for it.

I think 17's look tiny on these cars(i'm used to big wheels on big cars though). 19's with rolled fenders would look pretty nice. Bolted some 18's on my mx before and had no problems like rubbing or anything, but decided on a brand new set of 17's for now. As for ride quality and "bumpiness" i can't see it being that much worse on 30 series tires as opposed to 40 series. Besides, its an mx-3, its not like it handles like its on rails anyways.

wow, talk about proclaiming extreme ignorance!

My MX3 sure handles like it is on rails, probably b/c I set the suspension up properly and use some nice sticky tires and lightweight rims.

Hell drive over here and i'll let you drive it and see for yourself...you'll take back that statement

Let's face it - if someone is THAT into performance that they'll worry about a 32 lb difference in overall weight, they're not driving an MX-3.

What do they drive then?

I have a Tracer station wagon and the fact that my current wheels weigh as much as they do brings a tear to my eye every time I think about it.

And its probably safe to say that you completely missed the point about wheel/tire weight. It's all unsprung, meaning it's not stationary in relation to the rest of the vehicle. The added weight due to a wheel is something like putting on a pair of 10 pound a piece sneakers before going for a jog.. doesn't sound like fun.. But strapping 20lbs to your back, that wouldn't be such a big deal.

Either way, it's extra weight that the engine must move. You put that extra weight in the trunk, in the passeger seat, on the hood or on the wheels, it's still attached to the car, and must move with it.

I actually like that MX-3 though, nice and simple!

I actaully like the style of those rims. I still think tehy are ginormous.

A widebody kit, maybe even a more agressive kit would really help make the whole thing look not so out of place.

And it needs a big battle wing! but yea that car is minty looking otherwise
