Id' come too the meets but they are a few hours too late in the evening for me. If they were held at 4-5pm i could make em'. I work the grave shift at Casino Rama...so i like to get at least 4 hours of sleep.

I dunno what day the meets are held. As for your suggestions jschrauwen I feel that all those locations you listed are far west and would inhibit the eastern crowd from showing up because of the commute. Thats why I suggested whitby(east) woodbridge(central) and hamilton(west). That in my opinion would be fair to everyone. I only suggested Barrie because there are a couple of barrie members here and we had west east and central so I added a north. The woodbridge one could even be moved if wanted to a locale around the vaughn mills centre.

I would also suggest changing the meets to twice a month instead of every week. Because the going reason for not going is having things to do, it would be easier for people to plan for.

Also, I understand theres a big meet that gets a banner put up on the page for. Why not have someone coordinate 2 days in the summer on a sunday afternoon around 2pm where the members get together for a barbeque at a place like centennial park. Everyone chips in to buy the food and pay for the rental space in the park and everyone comes and has a good time.

These are only suggestions I'm throwing out to you guys because of the thoughts you guys have on the meets. I've seen this done on other car forums and they turned out to be a big success.

I wouldn't mind the whitby meet, at least once or twice. I have a friend up there that I haven't seen in a while, and it would be a great reason to go up that way.. as long as you guys don't mind a Focus invading the group :P I do like longish road trips (at least an hour or so). If we can manage some Niagara meets, i would probably be there every wednesday. My gf works from 5 till 1:30 am on wednesdays, so I've got nothing else going on for the most part :D

well then why not work out a schedule here. Have more spots to meet at. A Niagara Falls meet sounds like it would be nice. You not only get to meet with fellow mxrs but you also get to see the falls a scedule for meets is what is needed. No more on the fly we're meeting this day at this time at this place.

I can't believe the interest in this thread Image

We should try a few locations/dates/times first, than work a schedual according to what works out best. Especially, dates/times should be favorible to those local to the meeting place, or the best we can in a compromise, in case out of area Mx-3'ers decide to join. Honnestly, I'm probably the only (crazy) Mx-3'er that can and most likely will attend any meet in any region.

Honnestly, it's exciting to see all the meets being planned, its the way it should be  The date and time of our meets we're never set in stone, it was just a date/time/location agreed on by active members voicing their opinion. Here's to a promising 2005 Image

as great as whitby sounds for a meet the only place that makes sense is either milton oakville or burlington I opt for milton cuz its right on the 401. and the 401 is accessible to all and it is right smack in the middle of everyone now i know you barrie guys are sayin thats to far but then your asking the niagra guys to drive up there -- its the same situation I just think it would be better if we all met up in milton. preferably somewhere with coffee besides meeting in barrie yeah its cool to hook up with you guys but we lose more people then we gain by having a meet that far away.

I thank mike for starting this post, and i think we all appreciate it....but we all have to realize that one person can't just draw up a schedule for all locations and times. there's too many ppl involved and too many places that the one person (no matter who it is) knows nothing about. i personally don't know good meeting places in barrie, whitby, niagara, hamilton....cuz i don't really hang out around there (yet)

i like the direction good_glory took and just scheduled a meet in hamilton for june 2nd....some ppl can't make it, but some can.
those who can't make it cuz of distance should post one for their region and they'll have ppl coming to their area.
organizing one meet doesn't make you "in charge" of your region (unless you want to) by any means. one person choses time/place this week, next is that person...no pressure, just whenever you feel like cars.

also, for those wanting activity meets, who are you waiting to organize it? if you know a place that would b fun, just tell us when, post a map from yahoo, and more than likely there'll b ppl showing up.

we need to do less waiting for someone to take the reins of this group, and more sharing the responsibility. i bet there's not a single member here who has the time to plan every meet sometimes twice a week, but if the barrie guys are noticing that we're spending alot of time in niagara, all you have to do is post a message telling us to b at this location at this time.
all i ask is to not have the meets overlap, forcing ppl to choose which to go to. if given the choice, i'd like to attend all of them (work schedule dependant of course). also not too many per week. i'd say most of us are comfortable with one during the week, and one on the weekend. any more than that and it'll make us choose again.

i hope this takes a little pressure off ya mike....the success or failure of this car season doesn't lie on the shoulders of one member, we should all do what we can to make it good.

What went wrong (for me atleast) with the ottawa meet.

Altough i didn't post in the topic i was planning to go. But then i remembered that i already had something planned for the 24 weekend (and i bet allot of others had it aswell). Someone needs to be a planner in such an event and give access quicker to information. For the toronto meet having it in woodbridge is waaay to far for some of us and thats why we op not to go. Its really hard to get a meet going if you dont know some of the ppl personally. Because then you have people like me going a wednesday for the woodbridge meeting just to notice that no one was there.

for large meets like that, there should b an organizer (in this case it was the RX-7 club...i guess they're not going to do it on the long weekend again tho. we were just privy to what information we got from them)
but instead of assigning planning duty to a single person, if you know something that'll be fun, post your idea and see how many ppl respond. obviously if everyone is saying that they can't make it, then just post a cancellation so people don't show up for nothing. but i'll be doing my best to show up everywhere, and there's alot of ppl i havn't met that would b good to meet.
as for going to a meet where nobody was there, just keep checking the board to make sure ppl are saying "i'll b there", we'v actually had really good attendance the last two meets, and might b able to keep this up
