I was taking apart my old k8 and i'm stuck cuz i have no idea what like of socket i need to use on this bolt. Its like a star shaped bolt and looks like it have 12 sides to it. its under the vavle cover, right next to the vavle springs and ther are six total. anyone know what socket i need to use?

Those are the head bolts. Use a 12 point 14mm socket (I think thats the size) or you can go to Mazda or Napa and request the proper socket.

PS - Also.. you may need to use a breaker bar (Big a-- bar with a 1/2" socket adapter) to get enough torque to break those suckers free.. depending on the condition of the engine.. if it was overheated.. could be a serious pain to get those bolts out.

I have never laid a wrench on a K series engine (yet.. I am sure I will help someone sometime or eventually get a GS of my own) But the bolts on my B2000 looked the same and those were a 14mm.. so I guessed ;)
