hi their slimsmedley congrats on your swap best money you will ever spend
no one mentioned to do the waterpump, while the engine is out you can do the timing belt and water pump save you hassles in the long run
DavidOS did you have a silver eunos 30x....?
when you where in Aus
hey, great to hear from all the aussies on this site!!!
my next question is i have a 2 1/4 inch exhaust on my eunos now and its definately VERY loud. When i do the swap (all going according to plan) next week, is the note going to change much? louder or softer??
also, anyone want to buy a K8 engine, loom, ecu and gearbox with 160,000kms??
hi their slimsmedley how are you?
my exhaust seemed a little quieter with the ze..
but now with obx headers, a gutted cat and rear muffler, its insanely loud
hey dusty,
i hope it does get a little quieter after the swap. i have a big stereo in it and its hard to hear it sometimes!
By saying 'gutted the cat' do you mean the exhaust just runs straight through, similar to a hi flow cat? how did it affect the performance?
here's one for everyone. i ran my eunos on the dyno a few weeks ago after i put the 2 1/4 cat-back exhaust on. I was told by the technician that his friend ran one and it pulled 78 k/watts stock. Mine only ran 71k/watts. We played around with the air box (loss of performance) and vris (1/2 k/watts increase) but couldn't get anywhere near that 78 k/watt. Is it because of my exhaust?
Anyone have the figures for a stock dyno run to compare to mine? and for a engine swap KLZE dyno run?
Will the exhaust restrict the ZE once its in?
nah! 2.25 will be fine with your KL, s'what everyone else seems to run...
use some more sound-deadening in your boot to dull the noise if it's too loud
as for the performance difference, you have to expect some differences between two engines.... mileage etc...
you could only reliably compare the SAME engine before & after the exhaust
well i was curious today on the output on the klze, so i went to visit rank rotary here in melbourne.. they have dynamic test systems dyno
all it cost was $80 to do a power run.. and they did it straight away
here are the results
Max power 104.9 kw @ 138 km/h
Max torque 484.6 Nm @ 101 km/h
these guys were impressed for an na engine
except for the air/fuel at top end was running way to rich, stock computer
cannot cope, but after market management will fix that and should give further 5-10 kw
Dusty, it would be nice to see the results
as max power @ RPM please... not kmph

thanks dusty, did they say anything about advancing ignition timing?
i still wanna find out what the stock run is on the K8, and the run of a KLZE with jap ecu?
some places run cars in 3rd gear on the dyno, but i was told the proper way to do it is run the car in 4th as its the closest to a 1:1 ratio? can someone tell me what is right? i got the reading from my eunos running in 3rd gear...
ok, the ZE is completely in now, i had the short straight intake so i had to get an 'S' pipe and use the air box from the K8 and everything runs fine. The transmission from the mx6 was too long to fit unless i moved all the brake stuff around so i kept the K8 trans
BUT.....
the damn thing turns over but never kicks in unless i spray carby cleaner down the intake! It runs fine after that, but if i stall or anything stops the car i have to get out and spray the bastard
WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR??
after i wired it up there is one plug in the ECU left empty, have i missed something?
