Corksport clear side marker lenses

Post by xerostatus »

Hey guys,

Right now, my passenger side side marker light is broken (minor accident) and it is damn near impossible to locate and MX-3s in junkyards around here. I dont wanna buy OEM for obvious reasons, but i did locate one in that one mazda recycler near sacremento. They said I think it was 25+ shipping for just the ONE, and i realized i can just get the clear ones at corksport for 35+ shipping. But the description on this is sorta amiguous as to if its the whole housing or just the lens.

I tried emailing them to inquire about it, but to avail. So i was wondering if anyone on the board has ever purchased em...

My question is, are these JUST the lenses or the housing too? Although i can pay just a little more for a pair of clears, i dont wanna have to get just the lenses and have to go through with the whole bake-you-housing in the oven procedure... hell ill just wait til i can find one at a j/y... if anyone has any info on those, id appreciate it

I believe they are just the lenses. A heat gun or even a bucket of super hot water with good rubber gloves should do the trick if the oven thing doesn't work for you. Miata side marker lenses are similar to ours although I don't know about the whole light unit being a straight forward retro-fit. Junkyard excursion may be the ticket.

are you talking about the clear turn signals or the actuallu clear side markers on the side of the bumper... I oreder the clear flashers...had to heat the lense so I could take it out. I guess it should be the same with the side markers. I aslo order them from corksport and I think you can buy only the lense or the housing with it..It's your choice

They are just the lenses, not the complete housing.

The CS prod listing does state "lenses" & that's what I expected when ordering but they arrived as the entire housings & included new amber bulbs. Am I the only buyer to experience this?

You can either, the lenses, or complete housing. I don't think you will find an Mx at a junkyard with clear lights. Not alot of Mxer's in Cali mod their cars. If you need to stock ones, I've got a set.

Sorry if i was unclear, but what im looking at is the side marker light, NOT the corner signal lights. My confusion arises from the fact that for the corner lights, corksport clearly tells you which is just lense, and which comes complete with housing. The Clear side marker lights they have is less clear, because although its listed as "ADVANZ Clear Side Marker Lense (pair)", the description leads me to believe otherwise. But as neutral stated, it is the complete housing.... which is good news

Can anyone else confirm this, or did neutral really did get lucky? :P

I wasnt necessarily looking for clears, i just needed to get it replaced. and because finding stock ones is hard, and can be pricey, i thought "heck might as well go clear!" But anyhoo, how much are you willing to part with yours? if i can get em for relatively cheap then i dont really have any real use for clears so good riddens to them. :thumbs up:

What about the rear? aren't the front & rear sidemarkers on our car the same size?

Anyone know for sure if the miata's are the same as ours? it would make sense since mazda (among other car companies) would save money by lookin in the "parts bin" when designing their cars.

I ordered Miata clear sides from r-speed - a Miata and Mini supplier.

btw, when my ADVANZ sidemarkers arrived from Corksport, there was one small but easily correctable fitment problem, just with the bulb socket openings. The socket opening on the back of each ADVANZ housing were the correct shape & sized opening but the 3 protruding "tabs" that allow you to twist-lock the bulb-socket in place were ~1/16" too long. It allowed the bulb socket to be inserted but couldn't be twist-locked in place. Took ~5 minutes per housing to file the tabs that 1/16".

They (rspeed) lost my original order and have advised me that they are enroute as we speak. Should (better) arrive by Friday or early next week. Having piss poor luck ordering anything from across the pond or across the border. Supposed to fit as I was advised on this BB, if bad info then I guess they'll make a wonderfull xmas gift for some Miata owner.

Miata sidemarkers "almost" fit. They stick out a couple of millimeters. Surely could be corrected by shaving some tabs in the bumper opening. I have a pair of stock orange front sidemarkers if anyone wants them.
