Master cylinder

Post by Bradmx32003 »

Is the master cylinder similar for all years of mx-3s? Can I put a 96 into my 92 and be ok?

Likely they are the same, assuming the 96 wasnt equipped with ABS... Pretty sure the 92 didnt have ABS as standard.. might have been an option though. Basically.. if they look the same and all the connectors are in the same place.. I would give it a shot. But if there is ABS involved.. I'd just get a new or reman master cylinder.

If you need one off a non-abs MX let me know. Mine is a 93 w/o ABS. Master Cyl has seen 80,000km. 50Can$ shipped within Canada.

Pretty sure it was an option.. but it wasnt standard. Kinda of a crap shoot.. if you can see the donor car the Master Cylinder is coming from.. it should be easy to determine.. check for a ABS light on the dash with all the other lights.. (CEL, Brake, etc... )

Ok so if it isn't ABS then im safe, obviously, but if it IS abs, then do you think it will work?

The ABS and non ABS master cylinder is the same..
The 929 or 900 series is bigger in size and is a better buy
a much firmer brake pedal.....

Will the MBC from a 929 -90 fit? Or will any MBC from 929 fit?

Mac, i would say it would fit not a problem, as mazda seems to
have standard bolt hole pitching on the cylinder and brake booster
for all cars, as the 929 bolts into the RX's 3,4,5,7's and utes.

Great. Thanks! Got one for $65 including shipping. Guess that's a ok price. I just hope I don't have to change the gaskets.

Whatever happened to making home-made gaskets. It was part of the ciriculum in Grade 9 Auto Shop. Had to make them for carbs. Am I dating myself? ...LOL
