I know for a fact if you go to light the car doesnt have as much torque up hills and stuff like that. but has anyone tryed say 5lbs or 6lbs?

It wouldn't be possible as if you got any thinner, the flywheel wouldn't be able to dissipate heat properly. If you wanted to go even lighter, you'd have to screw around trying to take the weight off the crank counterweights. You'd have to have the crank rebalanced after that, and the engine as a whole would be more touchy to little things that might throw off the balance like uneven pressure plate weight.

disipating heat you could get a lighter substance other then aluminum to make the flywheel with... but not sure what exactly that would be maybe titanium. Would cost more but would be interesting to see how light it is.

Ive got a 6lb's in the rota, not including the flex plate and clutch pack.
Seriously to light for drag racing or road use as ive got to be down 2
gears ie 3rd when most cars are in 5th.
titanium is a waste of time as its wear and fatgue property's are not
great, 15-5 or 17-4ph900 is much better, though i have some titanium
vavle spring retainers i made for the 1600Vw and these things weight in
at 6 grams compared to 36 grams of the stock ones
