Got my MX-3!

Post by snellgrove »

1.8 V6 model, 72k on the clock, picked her up today.. click here for pictures

drove it nearly 100 miles from where I bought it to get it back home, nothing broke.. so assuming all is ok! was > 4000rpm all the way, near enough.. apart from the odd bit of slow-lane to give it a rest, she drives fine...

Man is very happy with machine!

Machine is very happy that its been washed, no doubt!

I got her for £3050!

original asking price was £3250, but the guy said he'd take money off if he took his ICE out, so I agreed! :)

bargain, if you ask me.. I guess he wanted a quick sale!

lol no, I spose it doesn't need a Slow-Lane rest.. temp gauge sat in the right place the whole journey, but I just wanted to get the RPM down for a while here and there, not having driven it before and all that.

stopped half way and put some oil in it, as it was sort of low-ish.. which leads me onto a question.. is 10W40 Semi-Synthetic OK for these engines.. the Manual was useless, says I need "API Service GS" whatever the heck that is..

might have it looked at by Mazda or something soon, check its all OK.

But why cover the number plate in most pictures but not the "headlight" one??? Its probably just me but I don't know why people cover them up??? Is there a reason someone???

lol I forgot to do that one :p

and my monitor brightness was turned down, it looked real black to me ... couldn't see it at all !

:edit:

dunno why I cover 'em up.. its a nice plate :D but.. I dunno.. stops people getting quotes for insurance and stuff, on the car? and generally using the registration plate.. I guess........ dunno tbh, other people do it.. so I do it, thinking theres a reason lol

8) 8) 8)

Nice ride your Silver MX-3 GS is.
Nice buy and nice price too.

I know exactly how you felt during your inaugural cruise home.
Bought my 1998 MX-3 RS "Blackbird" via eBay last November for £3000.
It had only 33000 genuine miles on the clock! Boy was I smitten!

It only has a 1.6i Engine but that was exactly what I wanted.
Fuel economy + Lower Insurance + sedate driving.
Done enough speeding to last a life time in my last car!
(Still have a clean licence)
My MX-3 is for posing, and I'm not ashamed to say it!!
Who can possibly resist that shape? Those curves?

Finally collected my car and drove 30 miles home, listening to every little sound the car made - scared there might be some unspecified problem.

It was and is a gem, no probs, goes like a bat out of hell despite the 1.6i DOHC powerplant that is a lot more powerful than many might believe - suits me fine though.

Pleased as punch - and believe me, every time I go for a ride in that Black Flying Saucer Shaped Vehicle, I experience something akin to exstacy! Oh, yes!!

Congratulations on your new MX-3 V6, may you both live long and prosper!

(And so say all of us...!)

you capture the spirit there perfectly... its for cruising in and lookin' good, and it certainly makes a flippin' good noise.. (would like it a bit louder though ;) ) hehe 8) its a marvellous motah, absolutely adore its looks, real nice indeed.. only 1 or 2 straight-line's on them I think, brilliant stuff! hehe :D

I find myself at random points throughout the day just wanting to take it out for another spin though hehe....

starting to get the feel of 130ish bhp.. its good, but...sometimes, you want moorreee!!!
