Valve Cover Gaskets

Post by drftking »

Have any of you taken your cars to a shop for valve cover gasket replacement and if so how much did you pay. Gaskets on both sides are leaking and is this a major problem or something that can wait.

ya mine leaked, front is easy to do yourself, theres no reason you should pay someone or waste $40+ on set of gaskets.
Just go buy some gasket seal from parts store $3 $4 and take off valve covers clean gaskets real good with some alcohol and area on heads where gaskets contact with it and then put layer of gasket seal on gaskets and screw everything back up. let it sit overnight if possible and there should be no leaks anymore.

they both are really easy. just pop off the manifold. the olny hard part is the 10mm bolt behind it. its not that hard though. then its just the same as the front one. just becareful not to drop any dirt or anything in the opend heads. just take you time and its an easy job.

If u never have taken ur manifold off.....theres a little bolt on the back on this latch thing...its REALLY hard to get too....and u cant take ur mani off with out it being off. Once u put the manifold back on do not re thread this bolt, its not needed and it makes future work on the car ALOT easier.

other than that..valve cover gaskets are easir fix. Make sure u torque the bolts back i the right order and torque.
