**I want to raise my MX3 RS**

Post by andyvich »

I want to raise it like 4 inches or so.

Any springs aftermarket or OEM that would work? Special shocks I need? Please offer me advice... :?:

Also "Don't raise your MX3" does not count as advice

thanks! I have something in mind

coilovers could raise it but i dont think a 4 inch raise from a coilover is possible. You are looking to do some hacking and welding andgetting bigger shox for your buggy.
ie: ranchos..
although that site you provided is interesting and im wondering what kind of coil overs those are.

4" won't be possible, not without TONS of work. The CV joints won't last very long at such an angle. 2" might be possible with a standard coil over kit and some aluminum spacers between the upper strut mount and the body.

it's gonna be lotsa work, but if you even come close i'd love to see it. I had an 83 buick wagon that I turned into an off roader, but it was rwd, so I just used truck springs and air shocks. I think you're just gonna have to find bigger struts and springs and "make em fit", then of course, have your cv axles redone. Good Luck

I raised my mazima around 3 inches using coil spacers um the brckets they sell at autozone...they mess your strut up if you hit a pot ome the strut bends and it its the tire tearing your tire at high speed. Cheap for like 8 dllos for a set of 4. They are in the section where they sell truck thingsm towing things ext. It worked well for like 3 weeks after that it was hell. ad to buy new struts hehe I raised it because here spee bumpos are like 4 inches high..no joke.(well in the border city of juarez mexico) Had a body kit.

hey i emailed the company of the link posted earlier of the coilovers and this is what he said. I asked him to clarify about the lifting and raising
That means 3" lower than stock and 1" higher than stock. That's actually a
good question and I will make it known to the web master that we should have
that listed on the site as well. Thanks.

Also chatted with corksport on AIM, and this is what they had to say about the Ground Control coilovers. DOes anyone have experience with these??

SilverBulletMR2: hey corksport, i have a question about a product
IICorkSportII: ok
SilverBulletMR2: about the Ground Control Coilovers for the MX3
SilverBulletMR2: Is it possible to raise the chassis with this set? By roughly how much?
SilverBulletMR2: And what is meant by "custom rates available" regarding the included springs
SilverBulletMR2: and are any of the strut/shocks on the site compatible? will it fit with OEM shocks?
IICorkSportII: i think its +3 or -3
IICorkSportII: all of the springs work on stock struts
SilverBulletMR2: What is meant by the custom rates available, does this mean different rates are available at no extra cost at the time of ordering? Does this mean I order and then I can put in different springs later? Does rates mean how rigid the spring is, or how tall it will hold the car?
IICorkSportII: its how stiff the spring is
He never answered my question about whether different rates cost extra or what......

I ordered my ground controls direct and they provided stiffer springs rates at no extra charge. Additional springs later on run ~$50 each.

These are the smallest I could find-

Still ~3" larger though.
