Leaking oil around distributor

Post by Typhoonk »

I did my BP swap last summer. Never replaced the distributor that was on it.
I cleaned my engine bay at the same time as the swap (not super clean, but I cleaned all the oil from my SOHC off of it).

about three months later, I noticed oil on the top of my tranny? kinda weird. I looked all over - kept cleaning the motor and checking to see where it was coming from.

Today me and a friend took out my distributor cause I noticed that my bolts that hold the disty on were oily. Popped out the disty and noticed oil everywhere. So we cleaned it up, made sure the surfaces were clean and used a little RTV sealant around it.

So I cleaned up the engine again. And hopefully I will not be losing any oil anytime soon.

Was wondering if anybody had oil leaks that the found and stopped? And suggestions I can use to check some stuff

thanks

if its coming from your distributor than its either the valve cover or most likly its that seal on the distributor when you pull i out. its that little black ring.

I've ran it for about 300km now. And no leaky leaky!!!!! Looks like it was the disty O-ring. Mine looked fine when I took it out too.
