Introducing the New & Improved MX-3.com Forums

Post by MX-3.com »

Welcome to the New & Improved MX-3.com Forums

I apologize for the lengthy downtime while the UBB system was being converted/migrated over to this phpBB format Forum. It took about 24 hours to convert all of the previous user accounts, threads and posts over to this system.

Overall I think the conversion went smoothly. There are still a number of items that need to be looked at. I have listed the ones I can think of below. If you notice anything else that is not working properly, please let me know.

I hope everyone finds this forum to be better then the prior UBB forums.

Some things that need to be looked at (and there temp fixes in brackets) are listed here:
  • Your display name for this forum is your login name from the UBB, Your Display name from the UBB is no longer valid. (A fix is not known at this time, I will be looking into it.)

Your Private Messages were not converted over to this forum. (Please go to the old forum at http://www.mx-3.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php to access your old PM's. Cut and paste any information you need if you wish to keep it. The old forum is only available for Private Message retrieval at the moment. If you reply to a Private Message the recipient will most likely NOT receive it, as e-mail functions have been disable on the old UBB. The old UBB will be closed permanently on January 31st, 2005. Please retrieve your PM's by then as they will be not available after that time.)

The Smilies from the UBB have not yet been imported into this Forum. (This will be done in time. I have to enter each of them manually and don't have the time at the moment.)

Some older messages that originally had HTML coding in them were not formatted properly when imported. They are still readable, however, the HTML tags are still visible. (Please send me an e-mail or a private message with a link to the message that needs to be fixed for me to format it correctly.)

User Avatars are not yet implemented. (I have to upload the avatar images to the Avatar gallery still. This will be done soon.)

Today's Active Topics is not a feature on the phpbb, instead they have "View unanswered posts" & "View posts since last visit", these links can be found in the top right area of the main page. (I will look for a mod to display today's topics.)

User Status & Custom Titles (ie. Junior Member, Senior Member, Supporting Member) were not imported. (I will try to get this updated soon. E-mail or Private Message me to have your status updated sooner.)
Their may be more issues that I am unaware of, please e-mail or Private Message me if you come across any.

The Smilies from the old UBB Forum have now been imported. To add them to a post click on the "View More Emoticons" link (below the standard Smilies on the left).
A popup window will appear with the old Smilies to Select from. (Note: They show up small in the pop-up window, but appear as normal in the message once it is posted.

Standard User Avatars are enabled again. You will need to edit your profile to select the Avatar Image from the Avatar Gallery.

If you had a custom User Avatar for either being a Supporting Member or for some other reason, please e-mail me or Private Message me to have your custom Avatar added to your profile.

This php forum, does not have seperate display names and login names, the login name is used for both. Therefore if you want your old display name back, that will have to be your login name as well. Please Private Message me, or e-mail me with your login name from the ubb and I will fix it for you.

This problem occurred due to a minor mistake on my part. It has now been fixed with regards to Member, Junior Member, and Senior Member Status.
Supporting Member Status still needs to be done manually for most. If you want this done sooner then I get to it, please Private Message me, or e-mail me with your e-mail used for PayPal donations and I will adjust it.
