More neons
More neons
Ok i checked the forums and found nothing i talked to a few buddys nothing. i have a 12"(i think) neon that i want to mount under the 3rd brake light and make it work with the brakelights. I've tried a couple different things but haven't spliced any wires yet. (I want that to be a last resort) is there anyone who might know how to do this. i'm not worried about legality's(about how legal it is about putting one there or anything) i just want it finished. could there simply not be enough power to run the light. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Re: More neons
I tried a few different things with the brake lite........my new wing has a third brakelight in it so to try it out all I did was take the wires and join them th the plug in of the third brakelight.(its got two wires in it and is right near the brakelite). I made sure the polarity was right and stripped and twisted the wires and pushed them into the back side of the plugin. to stop them from falling out, I taped both sets of wires to each other to prevent movement. worked well, no slpicing, and easy to remove. the only legal color you could use at the back is red, chances are, it would only take a day or two to be pulled over for any other color there. good luck.

Re: More neons
I think i tried that. The plug for the 3rd light in the hatch right. i tried that and it didn't work. i'm thinking i might just wire it to a switch and turn it off when needed. dunno. do u happen to have any pics for me to maybe look at?
Re: More neons
does your neon tube work? try hooking it direct to the battery, black wire to neg, red to pos, if that works than the 3rd brake wiring should work too. remember to depress the brake pedal, and you may have to wait for a sec for the tube to warm up. try it out.as long as the tube is working, and your 3rd brakelight works, then they should work together. just remember to get the polarity correct.
