another interior neon post
allright so i want to have a nice ambient red glow inside my car at the flick of a switch. will mounting under dash neons on passenger and driver side provide enough light, or just light up the floor? also what size might you guys suggest. as for wiring i wasn't planning on doing any further lighting or anything so i was just going to wire them into the back of the cigarette lighter and put a switch under my head unit.

the glow effect really depends on where you will mount the neons. if you mount them under the dash, it will glow on the floor only. if you mount them where the neon will show, it will glow everything in it's way.
oh and be careful when wiring to the cigarette lighter, there have been a lot of bad results on this board. try wiring them to the fuse box to a light fuse so just in case you accidentally flip the switch during the day, it can't turn on.

a friend suggested using one of the wires coming off the head unit that provides constant power for the clock, presets ect. i think that's how i'm going to go about doing it.
