what's the right ATF
what kind of automatic transmission fluid is best to use?.... i have a '92 GS if that makes a difference...

i think 3 quarts of ATF goes in????? some one wanna confirm that for me? i'm thinking about putting a slick 50 treatment in my tranny... worth it or not?????

According to my Chilton's manual, the 1992 4 cyl auto transmission takes 6.7 quarts and the v6 takes about 6.1... remember if you put in the slick 50 to subtract the volume of that from the total amount needed

Carefull with those volumes. I havent seen the Chiltons, are they talking PAN volume, or TOTAL volume? Most of the fluid is up in the torque converter, and it wont drain when you drop the pan.
To be safe, whatever you get out of it when you drop the pan is what you put back (to start with). Then once everything is back together, check it while the engine is running.
Also if you are adding a cooler, figure another 1/3 quart or so to fill the lines and cooler.
