Having Problems with my Mx-3 Precidia 96 GS
Hi there everybody,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my 96 GS. The car starts, the "engine check" comes on, the engine idles for about 2-3 minutes without any problems, and then it simply dies. I can manage to get it going a bit longer (about 1 more min) if I step on the gas, then the engine jumps from 1000Rpm to 2000Rpm back and forth (when I do that, it seems like the injectors are not providing enough fuel to the engine, or it sound like that anyways) for maybe 1 min and then dies again, with the "engine check" light always on.
I suspect the oxygen sensor.... but I'm really not sure... any of you have any idea where I should start looking?
Thanks!

------------------
--
Benoit Malenfant
Mx-3 Precidia 1996 GS Brillant Black

if your check engine light comes on, you need to get the codes from the computer. Also, it may have something to do with the crankshaft angle. it's inside the distributor and sold as part of the distributor.
And I do I go about checking the computer code? I remember doing it on my old Pontiac Fiero, you basically just had to use a paper clip to short-wire two connectors and get the code by the blinking "check engine" light... Is it sort of the same on the Precidia?
------------------
--
Benoit Malenfant
Mx-3 Precidia 1996 GS Brillant Black

Roadrunner,
Listen bud, I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're problem is. Have you been looking underneath your car for any leaks lately. I bet you'll find some coolant leaking on the ground. See, the same thing happened to my mx-3, and the high revving is your car telling you its low on coolant (kind of like a signal). I bet your temperature reading right above your gas meter is going way up too and your heater doesn't blow hot air all the time. And your engine light is probalbly letting you know that its getting way too hot. My advice to you is to take it to somebody who knows how to work on cars to chech it out for you and tell him what I'm telling you. Because when I went and changed my water pump (it was leaking and the reason mine was revving high too) I asked the mazda mechanic about it and he told me that it was low on coolant.
from the huthman. And get back to me and fill me in on what happens. maryam6666@hotmail.com
