Acceleration problem 110km +
I seem to have been having problems accelerating past 110km/h and beyond lately. I have an automatic and my transmission appears to be shifting smooth and is able to accelerate up to 100km/h without any noticable problems however once it gets to 110km it doesn't seem to want to go any higher unless I really push it. Before I could easily get it up to 140-160km/h fairly easily but now it just feels like once it gets to around 110km I doesn't want to accelerate any further.
Is it likely a torque converter problem? Could it be anything else?
Any suggestions apperciated.

Re: Acceleration problem 110km +
Whats up Andrew,
K, i had the same problem, but it MAY NOT be the same thing ...not sure.
In the beginning it started out as u said, wouldn;t be that quick on the highway and i also had a tough time getting up hills...(remember i have a 4 banger, so u may not have this problem) anyways, it gradually got worse and after a while couldn;t even get on the highway and had a tough time getting up to 60 KM.
Jarid than informed me that it could be ur cat is clogged, which later found out he was right, it was my cat , it was clogged! and after that was cleaned out, my car is back to normal, get to 150 KM easy now!
HOpe i could help, like i said this may not be the same thing, but anyways......i try..lol
Good luck bro...
PS: if it is ur cat, ur exhaust may smell funny..

Well when does your exhaust ever smell really good? lol
Exhaust just smells like exhaust I don't know if i would be able to tell the difference.
Maybe i'll get Curt to look at it later.
I actually posted this thread a long time, the problem still kind of exists.
I can still get up to 140-150 or whatever but it takes longer to do, so from 80 to 120 is accelerates slow which is bad for when you getting on the hiway.

Re: Acceleration problem 110km +
Hey Andrew, don't know if you fixed the problem yet, but my 2 cents is maybe the timing and or the fuel injectors getting sloppy.
One of the things I noticed with a clogged cat is that there was a huge delay in acceleration when I punched it, even at lower kms/hr.
