Need advice on keyless entry kit
I broke one of my keys today because the lock on the driverside is very hard to turn when trying to open/lock.
So now I want a keyless entry instead. Read in threads that eBay has some and quite cheap too. Now I want to know if you guys can recommend any speciall? There are quite many kits. My GS has power locks, so I guess I don't need the actuators?
Will this kit work?

Do I need anything more to make the kit work?

Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
That should work fine, I needed to install actuators bcause I had no power locks. You may also want to consider an alarm combo as well.
Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
I have an alarm already and i want to get keyless entry. The car does not have power locks. Just wondering if anyone can give me a general idea on how much it would cost to have one of these installed?

The power locks on the GS are only on the passenger side, the passenger side lock is a slave to the driver side, so you all you really need is an actuator on the drivers side.

Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
Thanks, but I knew that
The question is if I need anything more to make the kit work? And where do I connect the connectors that goes from the receiver?

Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
How it should hook up is that there will be 2 wires (per door) to function the actuators on the door, but you need a circuit to switch the polarities of the actuator motor, so it works to extend and retract the actuator.
But weird part of the circuit is that you need to 2 relays to switch the direction of the power to the motor for which function you need to have done.. I can't explain the wiring with text, and i have the diagram somewhere, but basically your turning the 2 wires on the unit to create and control 2 sets of 2 wires for each actuator. You will essentially setup 2 circuits, one of + and -, and the other reversed polarity - and +.

Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
I know how to fix this. I just did it to my car. Squirt some WD-40 into the key hole. Works like a champ!!!!I broke one of my keys today because the lock on the driverside is very hard to turn when trying to open/lock

after squiring WD40 in there, you should throw some lubricant in there, WD40 is not a lubricant, it's a water displacer. Now that it's moving freely, squirt in some lithium grease.

Re: Need advice on keyless entry kit
Wooohoooo, WD40 did it!! Thanks guys!!
And yes, I put some lubricant in there too to prevent freezing. Now I only need a new spare key.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
