Re: cross drilled rotors
BAD!
cross drilled rotors offer ZERO performance increase, and are more prone to crack.

Re: cross drilled rotors
I would beg to differ with you.
Why would my 2001 Honda CBR929RR have drilled holes in the front rotors?
The holes allow the heat to disipate quicker, thus, aiding in the reduction of brake fade.

Re: cross drilled rotors
I agree with you, holes will make heat dissipate faster, but at the same time I agree that holes are making them prone to crack faster and provide less surface area for pads to hold onto

Re: cross drilled rotors
this is pretty much true on our cars because you would need to upgrade your calipers and pads and go for a bigger brake kit to notice any difference at all.Originally posted by ProtegeSTS:

Re: cross drilled rotors
cross drilled rotors and slotted ones will offer no performance gain.
they will eat pads and break more often however.
to increase breaking performance used SS brake line or upgraded the pads but for gods sake dont buy race only pads because you will not be able to stop at all on the street due to no heat.
also try increasing the size of the rotor its sefl and add a caliper with more pistons.
however you must be careful not to upset the brake balance of the car other wise you will lose performance and um possible crash, a bias in the rear will cause your *** end to go out under braking.

Re: cross drilled rotors
MX-3 brakes are very adequate for our uses. Run good pads, fresh fluid, oem sized solid rotors, and SS lines if you'd like. Even on race tires, you'll be able to lock the brakes if you really want to at any speed you guys will ever see.
If they don't check the parts of your braking system because something is wrong.
You cannot improve braking performance if you don't have the traction to use it. Locking the brakes means that you have too much braking, and you should worry about traction.

But for the price. They sure as hell look cool. And aren't much more than oem...

Re: cross drilled rotors
Lighter rims will also allow you to brake faster. Of course, as was mentioned...if your traction isn't there that just means you are locking up the tires.
