What's the difference between...

Post by Mx3Chicka »

The Rs and Gs model ??
Is there a huge difference or is one just like a certain edition of them??
-Sorry if its a dumb question .. I just don't know much about these cars yet.

GS has
1.8L v6 engine
front bumper lip (spoiler)
rear spoiler

RS has
I4 1.6l engine
no spoilers

these are easiest differences you can see between two

GS has 15" wheels, 4 wheel disk brakes, power options (windows, locks), some have sunroofs, lower rear suspension tie bar, quicker steering ratio. Just a few more things to add.

RS slower than ballz, GS is OK in terms of acceleration.

GS gets crappier fuel econ. Both handle as good.

I think the hard suspension package was an optionon GS models only, not sure.

Also, the power package is available on all MX-3's regardless of if they are GS or RS. I've seen lots of GS's without power windows and RS's with power windows (sohc models included).

AFAIR GS tranny is also different, and different air intake, and dual tip muffler stock.

Actually, besides the unibody and interior, its pretty much a different car all together besides some wiring :)

And don't forget that the RS is a little different too in that 92/93 are SOHC and 94+ are DOHC.

get the GS, if u plan on adding engine performance mods why work off an inline 4. Plus there are other more powerful engine that will be easier to swap into a GS compared to the RS. But if all u want is the looks and don't care about power and speed go for the RS. My RS just hit 300 000 kms and it is rock solid. Either way both models are damn sexy!!!

Gonna have to be more specific in what you'd like to do with the car (if anything at all) before we can suggest a direction Chicka :D
