Tire wear on the sides, splitting

Post by Andrew_Pakula »

My front two tires seem to be splitting on the sides. Are the over inflated / under inflated? or something else?

They are Toyo Proxes tires that are about 2 1/2 years old.

No I don't think something cut it, its like that on both sides and around the tire, but it will only split on the bottom part where the most weight is.

that is so unusual I would get hold of the tire dealer and put in a claim for new ones with Toyo

They are like 2 1/2 years old though, I don't think warrenty would cover it now.

I've been running my Toyo Proxes T1-S for four seasons now, ride them very hard and no sign of splitting like that. Usually run 36psi all around on 17". I think you should take it up with your dealer.

Well I'll check the pressure tomorrow and I'll swing by where I bought them and see what they say.

Looks like bad product there, no tire is suppose to do that unless of course there really old even then.

I don't believe so and I'm not exactly pulling hard turns on a regular basis either.

It's only on the front two tires though so I think something else is wrong.

Looks like the tread is completely seperating from the tire body ala Explorer Firestone tires. Shoddy construction if two different sets of Toyos are doing that.
