94+ mx-3 has 21mm rear sway bar?

Post by Sean Mandell »

I am debating whether I need a new rear sway bar if I already have a decent sized one now.

The pre 94s have a 19mm I beleive and would definately be better to go with the 22mm but how much of a difference is 1mm?

I'm also debating if i want a whiteline bar. 22mm isnt much of a difference. Are there bigger bars? 25mm maybe? Alittle oversteer never hurt anyone

25mm is way too big unless u upgrade the frt one.

If the frt one is 21mm then a 22mm in the rear is perfect but most guys on here have the 19mm rear bar which is why mazda upgraded the rear one in 1994.

I would rather have a urethane bushing kit.

Also I am wondring what year is nope-mx-3's car.

keep in mind that the stock one is possibly hollow...

also, sway bar stiffness is determined by the square of the diameter, so a small difference in diameter makes a big difference with the car.

So lets say i somehow got a 25mm bar, what size is the mazda speed bar for the front? Would a 25mm bar in the rear and a mazda speed bar in the front be almost balanced with maybe alittle oversteer :D ?

My car is a 92.
I believe we measured the original bar to be 20mm.
those 2-3mm had A LOT to say on the handling of the car. I almost didn`t recognise it.

The benefits in handling aren't just determined by how thick the bar is. The material the bar is made of, and whether its hollow/solid also have a lot to do with it.

The stock bar is hollow. I have Masdaspeed one and the weight difference in bars is big. So is the handling. Too bad it adds weight, but more fun in the corners. I would be careful with adding too big of a bar, because it makes your suspension less independed, and your ride harsher. I know it is not a big deal to most of us, but too much harshness is not fun.
