recommendation: KYB-eibach combo

Post by Sonicxtacy02 »

Over the weekend i had the chance to install my new suspension setup. I've got KYB GR-2 struts with eibach pro kit springs. The ride is completely AWESOME. There is a little more bump goin over holes n such but nothing near my KYB dropzone combo  . I'll have some pics done tonight to show the drop, but sits nice and low with minimal wheel gap on 15" tires. The total setup cost me $280 (eibachs were used). Anyone wanting a nice suspension upgrade at an affordable price without the hassle of customizing i would definitely recommend this combo.

Just a couple things to note...
- KYB GR-2's warranty is void once you drop more than 1".
- You're KYB GR-2's will be operating within a range beyond what it was designed to operate in. Therefore, they will eventually blow. When? Who knows...one good pot hole will do it most likely though.
[ April 15, 2003: Message edited by: zytariuk ]

1. My warranty is through the dealer not the manufacturer
2. Eibach recommended me to KYB in the first place, what makes you say all that stuff about range? Have any facts or numbers to back that up? Not tryin to be rude but suspension seems to be an area where alot of people dont back what they think.
Anyway, here are comparision pics, fronts are the new combo, rears are stock height. Sorry, the cars kinda dirty right now. And btw i'm selling the tires/rims soon to get some 17's. Lemme know if anyones interested.
Image

The car is caked in pollen!. There's a nice dark red glow when its all nice n clean. No pics of the rear yet. The car is parked waiting for me to put them back on. I cut the stops a tad cause it wasnt low enough. I'm update when they're done.

I'd be more than happy to take ur comments in mind if you would post figures proving your theory. Is it your opinion or are there facts that back up what you say. I'm sure i'm not the only person interested.

Yeah, dood your car looks clean as hell.
I'm hoping to pick up a Red 93' GS maybe this weekend from someone near me. We should meet up sometime. I'm in Annapolis, MD.
If i get one, i'm going to swap all my protege crap over to the MX and slap my GTR motor in there. I'm just hoping it doesn't become a problem for a GS.

mazdatuningmag meet? yeah i'm going. I have to polish my car up a bit, but I will be there...just my car might be a little dirty. So you are going? Hope to see you there and meet some MX'ers instead of the typical Protege crowd (which is about 95% 3rd gen owners anyways....so it sucks :( ).

You can physically FEEL the car being underdampened. If that's not fact enough for you, you can spend the money to have them dynoed.

other than the fact that the struts recover quicker than the stock struts, i cant feel any difference. I dont drive my car hard. I have two other ones for that. Its my commuter car. If the struts fail from day to day driving i'll either return em or just be out 150 bucks.
on a side note... is there anyone else who has this combo on there car already? I'd like to get some feedback from those who actually have the setup.
