WHEEL is Loose ... ? help please...

Post by Max »

Hey guys,<p>Well for about 2 weeks now a friction sound has been coming from my driver wheel. If i'm going about 60 clicks and turn right it get a little louder and if i start pulling to the left more noise. Looks likes theres alot of rubbing going on. It doesnt go click click click... Today i changed my oil..jacked up the car and went over to that wheel. I went to shake the wheel and there was some actual mouvement..the wheel is tight but the assembly is moving. Is this the ball joint ? is it dangerous to drive on ? cause i can't get it fix for till monday ... thanks

It is probably ball joints yes. Either that or your spindle nut. You can check by taking off the wheel and grabbing the spindle and see what actually moves. If just the spindle moves its the spindle nut. If the entire assembly moves its probably the ball joint. If I were you I probably wouldnt drive it until you got a good look.

Check you're wheel bearing too. I had a similar problem, and it turned out ot be my bearing. It's only like C$45.00 for one made by SKF.
