i agree lets all share a Coke and live in harmoney. no some are very harsh on here, i know on the Miata forum im treated as an equal, i feel like one of them!

Gro iv got a decent amount of respect for what you know. but there is a time to bash someone for a question and theres a time to be one with your self and nature to help them. its about peace and rainbows. please please just be nice to the newbes and share what you know and tell them to use the freaking search function when they ask a dumb *** question.

no really i agree with bothe sides. a certian amount of respect should be held. even though it only takes a few secconds for them to look it up them selves, some people just simply dont want to look it up they want a faster responce. and some people are just simply to lazy to pick up a book to find out if the inturnals of a miata will fit in an MX. bottom line some people deserve to be BASHED and some dont. but as a "community" we all need to stick together and help people out. and like moma used to say "if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say anything at all".

(this message only reflects the views of one Person and not the views of mx3 community. thank you and please dont take anything i said to serious)

i completely agree with wil. i used to answer every question nicely no matter how often it was asked, noob or not. there comes a time when all of you will realize that hey when theres like 5+ threads with the same dam title on the same page about "when are projectors coming out for mx3?" or "is the ze a drop in swap?" or "what kind of springs should i get?" "do zx2 struts fit?" there are many more repeat questions on this board... and so the faq's were created. so what of them right?its not like anyone looks at the faq's cuz we get more repeat questions, sometimes from the same people.

i agree to answering questions but not when one thread on top of another are about the same topic and practically have the same thread title.

this is why many members that have been around this board for years do not post anymore. its a waste of time cuz some moron will just ask the same question while ignoring the post right under theirs with the same title and question

Well here's my idea....

Yes people shouldn't get bashed.
Yes we should help people
Yes people should not be stupid and not look first.

BUT there is a way to fix this!

One problem....

Lots of Time and Dillegence.

YOU REALLY WANT TO HELP THE MX-3 COMMUNITY!
Continue Onward....

Find a topic that interests you...if your REALLY REALLY good at audio then choose something from there, maybe how to hook up a deck (using the color diagram)

Then YOU search the board...ALL OVER the board...then open up microsoft word. CREATE an awesome HOWTO or ABOUTTHISANDABOUTTHAT

Post it with the title of (FAQ HELP (your topic)

FOR the people that don't want to write a faq you can still help TOO!

Person who created it is the FAQ WRITER, if you have something that you think should be in the faq, just post that, not good jobs or anything like that. Once the FAQ WRITER feels it's complete it can be put into the faq board.

Make sure all the TOPICS in the FAQ BOARDS
are descriptive as possible...

Now I'm going to be starting a new topic and I want everyone to help me out so we can get this done, THEN MAYBE NO ONE WILL EVER ASK THE SAME QUESTION, instead of saying "SEARCH" just give them a link to the faq board.

Look for post entitled FAQ IDEAS...

This doesn't work either.

I've tried to help NUMEROUS people in the past, and all I get is crap from them saying I don't know what I am talking about, or my idea sucks, or blah.

Lots of people don't like the fact that others will know more about something than they do, and thus, freak out.

I got sick of telling people how crappy HID kits are and them telling me how great they are, that's just one example.

Others have got the same too, and like me, they get fed up and just don't care anymore.

I'm glad to see others follow now and make some quality headlight set-ups, because like me they probably researched it lots before hand.

i feel your pain. ive been a member of this board for a few years, and everyone has witnessed my mx3 grow from stock to what it is now. i have a ridiculous amount of posts, but thats not because im a loser always posting on this board. i just like to post a lot. ive tried helping numerous people in the past. i even took the hobby of carbon fiber and fiberglass composites to make a few custom parts for this car, but all i get is crap for trying. soo i decided to just keep those custom parts to myself and let the rest of the mx3 community complain about having no custom parts for their cars.

im now a member of e46fanatics.com and to be honest, the people on that board are VERY welcoming and helpful compared to the people on this board. everyone is super cool with each other no matter how much of a jerk they seem to be. but this board, all i get is crap so i just left. this is why me and many other long-time members who have tried to help the mx3 community have left this forum as well.

everything about the noob thing, i agree with gro harlem and have nothing else to add to that.

I have high speed broadband Internet access but many ppl may not have bb and a search can be pretty tedious using dial-up. Seems helpful when recommending that a search be done if a particular forum(s) and/or key search words can also be recommended or maybe a link to a past thread. I see this done often on this UBB but also sometimes see "do a search!", without further direction. Depends on frustration levels all around I guess...

Personally, I especially enjoy reading thru IanL's posts as a positive example. Always informative, professional & courteous with well organized content.

Gotta agree with Gro Harlem on this one.

and yes-- a Rotary bolts right in with no mods necessary at all.

thanks for the mockery

keep doing what we are doing i guess and see how this board never expands and keep your wealth of knowledge to yourselves.

look when i was a noob i wonder if the rotory engine would fit in our cars when you know nothing about them you want the most powerful engine . look they see honda owners and they swap a **** load of engines. i mean **** at a show in montreal i saw a bloody civic with the s200o engine in it. the guy swapped everything it was badass.

he guys do zx2's fit my car ?
can i use miata parts in my engine ?
can i lower my car 5"s and still be safe?
will the rotory fit it?
what makes my car go faster ?
can we use NAWS in our cars?
what kind of body kit is this?
what rims look good on my car ?

comom question that will be asked until our cars no longer exist so we better get ****ing used to seeing them. so instead of complaining about noobs we need them cause the aare what keeps the board around.

I myself have probably answered every question asked atleast 2-3x. If you want a FAQ, post a question, I will answer it. Most people dont even bother looking @ the FAQ. If you feel something belongs in the FAQ thats not there, send me a PM with the link, I will look over it, edit it, and put it there.

I see people with 10 or less posts, posting the same thing in every forum, asking the same question. They dont search, they dont read the FAQ, so we have to let them know some how.

fyi honda swaps are all very basic no need for customization swaps, just have all the parts u need. a s2k engine in a civic... like we always say, with enuf money anthing is possible

second, to put it bluntly the point some of us are saying is that all of us older members were once noobs to the mx3 community at one time or another. what does that mean?
we dont tell people to search for nothing because searching is how we learned what we know. the information is there and if u dont tell them to search they never will and will never know how to use it. we never happened to just know the stuff we know about the mx3 so i say again to u idiots with dum repeat questions

SEARCH for the love of god!!!

ya be nice to the noobs. i agree totally but only the ones that use the search function, dont answer the dum repeat questions. u guys can do whatever u want but thats what i do. i help noobs but only if they show the effort to help themselves first the others are probably just going to ask the same question after u answer them.

Lets not turn this into a flame war guys.

Anyways...as for the respec thing..I honestly can't say i can respect someone who doesn't respect me.

When a n00b comes on here and doesn't even bother to search, let alone read the topics on the first page to see if one has to do with their question, and THEN they post a NEW topic about the SAME FARKING THING...that is disrespectful to everyone here who provides people with information.

In an ideal world, there would be a bunch of knowledgeable people who knew all of the answers who would have no life and browse this board 24/7. When someone needed help and posted a new topic, they'd happily answer the question, even if it was already answered, but that isn't how message boards work. They are desiged to become a knoweldge-base, a database if you will about a certain topic.

The topic here is Mazda MX-3's. If you are too stupid/lazy/retarded to use the search function for a common question, then those people won't receive respect from me. Anyone with half a brain should know that "which springs are goodest" and "what engines bolt in" are common questions for a 5+ year old message board.

LooseChange...one problem with your idea, who would write them? I don't see that many in-depth faq's or how-to's being written by anyone. I've written a couple, but they are a pain in the arse to compile and take at least an hour to word, format & type up.

I just don't see it happening.

IMO A better idea would be for someone to type up a list of common questions, like Casino typed in his last reply. And then volunteers here do searchs for each topic, post the URL's to each topic that address it and post that in the FAQ so newbies can easily find them.

Like a catalog, if you will, about what specific topics have been addressed. Time and time again I see excellent discussions go to waste b/c they get bumped down to the 2nd page and become forever forgotten.

So here is my suggestion:

Make a new section called "Forum Catalog" or something of that nature. Within it, have a few threads titled "suspension" "4 cylinder", "V6", etc.

Each of these threads will be highly moderated, no garbage posts or questions allowed. Just requests and submissions. People can post a reply to a thread requesting "info about swapping tranny on V6". Then a volunteer on MX-3.com will do a search for the topic, post all of the URL's that pertain to the topic and publish it. The request is then deleted by a moderator & the info remains in the thread for people to find.

It'd be a group effort, but would help people find stuff. Often, topics arne't found b/c our search function only searches the title as default. More often than not, the actual content of a thread has nothing to do with the title which is how this "catalog" will benefit ppl

whats bad about the hole thing is in the past 6 to 8 months or so, iv gotten almost 1 email a week from people on the board asking for my help with something their doing or want to do on their car, cause they dont want to be ripped on by everyone else on the board, and if i have a dumb question iv emailed off the board as well. but the only dumb question is the one that wasent asked. i understand that alot of people dont know their head from a hole in the ground when it comes to their car, and what they can do to it. but their are several questions that have probably been asked at least 10 to 20 times this year alone. so it gets tiring when you awnser someones question and you look the next day or maybe a few hours later and some one else askes the same exact question in the same section of the forum. "WHAT THE HECK". i guess you cant help them all. its a never ending cycle that wont stop.
