Nitrous On The Mx-3

Post by SelurYrator »

We recently purchased an mx-3 as a project car/weekend driver. Im new to the forum and have have performed all the basic power upgrades and reliability/maintenance mods. My question is, what are the necesarry components/mods to install a Nitrous kit on the V6 mx3. Fuel pump, safc, what is it that I need exactly to run a decent shot size, probably wet. Last, what size shot of Nitrous is safe for the mx3 engine on stock ports?

i dont think your gonna need a safc just for nitrous thats more of a turbo f/i device, just updating your fuel pump to a higher flowing one should do the trick to make sure you dont have too much nitrous too little fuel (boom) plus if you were going the safc route its a biiyitch to wire in or so im told  oh and a 50shot is about whats going to be the safest yet most powerful shot your gonna wanna run

So a 50 shot of wet nitrous and a walbro 255lph High Pressure fuel pump should be enough? Sounds good, thanks for your reply man.

Hmmm I have a Nitrous Express wet kit. I use a 35 shot all the time on the street with wtock fuel pump, of course, and normal plugs. A 50 shot is ok with a stock fuel pump, but you probably will need 1 or 2 deg cooler spark plugs to prevent detonation. I don't know if you can do a 75 on a stock fuel pump... it might be ok and just run a little lean, or not... I would just upgrade to a walbo 255 like you said if i was going to run a 75.. also you will need -2 or -3 deg plugs fot a 75 but INTERNALS CAN HANDLE IT JUST FINE. I was going to try a 50 in a few days but now i'll probably never know waht it's like.. i fuXzored my tranny racing the other night... 3rd gear is useless... that's no good... I see no reason to fill my bottle for $40 to run 1st and 2nd gear haha. I'm jsut going to wait a month until those turbo kits are done and and stick an mx-6 tranny in when i turbo. w00t

I hear the ZEX kit is the best, it has its own computer that monitors everything. Also a wet kit would be the safest I would say, it supplies the extra gas required instead of your stock injectors, there is a less chance of running lean that way. I knew someone who put nos in their saturn, he forgot to put the nozzle in to restrict the amount of nitrous and when he tested it, it blew the hood off the car and absloutely obliterated the engine. There was just 2 very black skidmarks and 1 very wrote off saturn.. Be Careful..

That is a very common mistake. Many people get all excited about squeezin', and in the process of the install they forget about the correct nozzle and BOOOM.

The guys name was smithule. Only fools expect not to blow a stock engine on a 75 shot running the stock fuel pump.

Yup, people just get all excited and forget to put the jets in. Happened to my friends civic with a 20k engine. He told his employee to drive it somewhere but told him not to squeeze, but didn't tell him why. The dude squeezed, boom 20k out of the hood.
