BP Motor---Custom Turbo or N/A Build-up

Post by jap-spec »

I've been reasearching for awhile, trying to come up with a list of parts that I will need for an affordable custom turbo set up for my BP Protege LX motor. So far I have come up with this list:

For the fuel management:
1. Apexi AFC controller $340.00
2. 1993-up RX7 twin turbo fuel pump $130.00
3. Cartech adjustable FMU pressure regulator $220.00
4. Apexi boost controller (Which I already have)
5. RC 320cc injectors $250.00 (I'm guessing)

For the Engine:
1. GTX 1.8 exhaust manifold from corksport $180.00
2. 1990 Eclipse turbo (Which I already have)
3. Flange to adapt the turbo to the manifold $50.00
4. Eclipse intercooler (Which I have aready)
5. Intake piping & intercooler piping $250.00
6. Oil steal lines & fittings $50.00
7. Eclipse BOV (Which I already have)

GRAND TOTAL: $1470.00

I think that covers everything unless you guys can think of anything else that I need to add.

I've put so much time and thought into turbocharging my car that I've never even thought of building a N/A motor. How much horsepower can you get from a built up N/A BP Protege LX motor??? What would need to be done to the motor & how much money do you think it would be to build a 200 horsepower N/A BP Motor??

I'd say it is the other way around. Buy a BPT if you got money to waste since you can buy a BP and turbo it with better results for the same cash.
