a few inches? try a foot or two of extra tubing.
anyway, there's no real way to really know how much air that shroud can really flow unless its tested. or if you have a steam machine and an electric fan to make a mock-wind tunnel.

about water-to-air ic....wouldnt taht drain away a notciable bit of power cycling the water to the ic? i know i discussed this with my father several times(he drives semi wich use a water-to-air) and he, and i must say from what was said i agree with him that power would be lossed from it...not to mention the beast of a set up.
about the top mount ic...some of the hood framing definitly would have to go unless you can find a very slim ic. to cool it id say use the stock hood and custom scoop it. not that hard of a task there. but harnessing it would be difficult. my suggestion is study the sti and use ideas from that.
i got a 90 pgt...but wish it was a mx-3 bp-t!

Air to water works just as well as air to air. The downside is additonal parts- pump, front heat exhanger, water lines. But the intercooler can be much, much smaller than an air to air. Water absorbs heat 14 times better than air. So an air/water can be less than half the size and still remove the same amount of heat. The other nice thing about an air/water is if you can get a small tank somewhere you can chill the water with ice. That way you can get very, very cold intake temps for short periods which is great for the drag strip.
BTW- the electric power needed for the pump is very small. A 3 gallon per minute pump draws only 4 amps. If that amount of current draw bothers you don't turn on your radio.
[ September 04, 2003: Message edited by: TsiMiata ]

it would with the ****ty *** electicle system on mx-3's!! turn on your hazards and youll hear your exhaust go with the blinkers....also step on the brake and rpms will drop!
but i see ur point as to why its good and wouldnt actually create harm. something to think about.

Check your grounds and battery connections. you usually get those symptoms when those are dirty, missing or loose.
