injectors for B6T

Post by maldo »

Just wanted to warn everybody about swapping to the Pro LX injectors. Not that great of an idea. I have reached 100% duty cycle on my LX injectors which isn't good. The good thing is that means I am pushing quite a bit of power but I now need to upgrade again. The whole reason for swapping these injectors in was because I was told they would work with the Pro LX ecu and the B6T ones wouldn't. This is looking like a false statement. I tested my B6T injectors and they are around 14ohms, the B6e ones are around 14 ohms and supposedly the Pro LX ones are the same. So in all likely hood the B6T injectors will work. I am going to be doing some testing in the next week to see if this is correct. My other option is to swap to a set of 330cc injectors from the 1.8l GTX. I was running out of fuel at 14psi and want enough to give me the option to go to 18psi for the track.
I will keep you guys posted.

That would be great if I could afford it. Key problem is I am a student and have to buy textbooks for this term which is getting close to $700. I have the set of 330cc which I am going to swap in for now. They are good for 264hp which will do for now. When the time comes I will get new injectors either 440cc or 550cc.
And yes, you were correct in the high impedance debate we had. I was going by info Derrick gave me which is obviously wrond at the time. For some reason, his logic for swapping to the Pro LX ecu/injector combo was because of impedance which doesn't make sense since the B6T injectors match and would provide better fueling. I definitely will be getting an RR-FPR to compensate for the high boost. Anything over 10psi seems to go lean with the stock fuel curve.

So should you stick with the original mx ecu or still swap to the protege. I was told that you have to use resistors on the stock b6t injectors.. am i right?
[ January 10, 2002: Message edited by: cjthor ]

I think there is some confusion as to the information given by various sources. When I was doing the swap the main reason I went with the Pro LX ecu is that the injectors would not work with it. This is only true if you have the jspec injectors. These run at low impedance whereas the NA injectors run at high impedance. I just swapped to the 330cc stock B6T injectors and it made a ton of difference. The other reason is to use the RX-7 MAF, it does flow more. They look identical except for the height. I believe it flows about 70+cfm more than stock.
Here is the break down:
B6e 1.6l SOHC injectors - High impedance ??cc
Pro LX injectors - High impedance 230cc
B6T injectors - high impedance 330cc
Jspec B6T injectors - 330cc low impedance
Next problem is there seems to be a few jspec motors with high impedance injectors. Expecially newer GTX motors. Test before use is the best way to find out I guess.
No resistors are needed on the B6T injectors if they aren't low impedance when used with the Pro LX ecu. I would still use the Pro LX ecu as it will give slightly more fuel. You could compensate for this with a piggyback like 007sniper did.
