Removing the yellow tint from the fog lights

Post by Eunosss »

Hi everyone,
I like the mx-3 fog lights. Alot. It looks cool and lights up the side of the streets so I can see kerbs and gutters.

Unfortunately here in Sydney the police here classify them as fog lights so its illegal to use them unless in fog even though its not very bright at all. I've been fined once $68 just for having them on.
As you all know the fog lights aren't very bright unlike the obnoxious ones on WRX's, some pulsars and Holdens.

I read a few years ago someone put instructions on how to remove the yellow tint from the fog lights to make it clear, so I can use it as driving lights - which is legal - even encouraged here.
Has anyone done this? and if so how? is it easy?
THanks in advance for your replies, hopefully it will only be a saturday afternoon's work.

Cheers

As far as I know, stock fog lights do not come with a yellow tint built into them. It probably just a bulb that is yellow. Have you taken them apart to see?
