Rim size and tire size

Post by Redlined »

This is kinda hard to search for but I tried. Anyway I have a set of tires which are 215/40/17 but have no rims yet. I am picking between 2 and one is a 17 x 7 and the other a 17 x 7.5. What does the 7/7.5 stand for and can I run my 215s with the 17x7s and/or with the 17/7.5s? :dunno:

215 will be fine with either width rim-- although it will fit the 7.5 perfectly.

The 215's on a 7 inch wheel will be a bit "buldgy".

I have 205's on my 7.5 inch width wheel and they are a bit small. A 215 would have been the size to go with.
