More power from a KL-DE? Suggestions please

Post by Macen »

Ok, now after my swap I need to know if there are any ways to get more power from my DE?

I have searched, but only found info about the ZE. Though I found that I can change cams, pistons and IM to ZE, but that will be too expensive.

How about change the throttle body? Guess it will not add that much power, just throttle response.

I have changed exhaust system after the cat to 2.5". Thinking of new headers. Is it worth the money, and how much will I gain?

And here's a pic of my honey :-)

They're basically built on the same block, with different cams and compression ratio...

Change your cams to kl31, get an ms8 manifold with pheno heat spacers, go with hotshot headers.... and youll be basically pushing close to same power as a ze.... more agressive cams and compression is basically all your lacking. Don't change the throttlebody unless your going to change the intake manifold.
1992 Mazda mx3 gs / 03 / ms8 intake manifold / klze 67mm bored TB/ Custom CAI / 2.5 Custom exhaust / Drift kit front and sides/ CF Invader hood / 17'' MSR gunmetals with chrome lip / Tockico Blues / Suspension technique springs / Leather interrior/ B&M SS / Fully customized interrior (Red and black) / Corvette Red 00 Paint w/ white, blue, gold pearl / Shaved altezzas w/ black trim/ Front rear strut bars / ze ecu ( I think that's all )

The MS8 manifold is a short straight manifold used on a JDM saloon. Perhaps you mean a Millenia (Eunos 800) manifold?
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

There's a guy in Canada that does aggressive regrind cams for $400 for our cars. Search ProbeTalk forums for 'seli cams'

so would the short straight manifold fit our cars without modification as well?
