ok..the previous owner of this mx 3..claims to have done sopmethign to the heads...somethign about platinum vaves or something like that... i honestly think its bull..i cant believe it until i get the thing dynoed.. supposebly they spent 3000 us dollars in this engine... the owner had to go to irak aso he had this car sold...wich i still tuink its crap since i bought the car for 1000, original asking price was 1300. The car does amazangly pull fast and does 0-60 in around 7. something seconds. And it really hauls..but i dunno.,.im spectical about this..any ideas?? what are porcelain valves..platinum whatever they are called.. ? can they be opversized??

MX-3 w/ curved neck millenia klde, boosted @ 5 psi. /bov and wastegate are good!/ nitto drag radial/ gutted interior/ millenia red top injectors, vortech fmu/aem wideband/ all bolts ons/ Car put together 100% by me. Mechanic? who needs a mechanic? ew.. real men work on their own cars!

platinum valves? i understand bling bling but um what would platinum do for your valves? YO DOG MY OIL IS STYLIN! could be SS or even Titanium, you can up or lower your compression slightly with valves (nothing that a N/a motor would notice)as for oversize them yes you can slightly and it makes a wonderfully scary sound :) ask patrick from moca when he got to hear mine he thought something was wrong. Also using lighter metal is a good thing as your now lowering the internal weight of the motor, but Platinum is a heavy metal its not light.

But he was probably just pulling your chain to try to get more $$$ out of you, he could of put 3k in a motor just doing a rebuild, and just didnt want to loose the money of the newly rebuilt motor

Yeah that's all complete crap. Platinum runs ~$800 an ounce. I'd gues that each valve weighs 2 ounces. 24 valves X 2 ounces = 48 ounces. 48 ounces of paltinum just for the material would cost ~$38,000. Never mind machining costs. 7 seconds is by no means fast, especially for a motor with supposedly $3k into it. A ZE does low 6'smaybe a high 5) for less money.

If he spent that much on a K8, he needs to be riding a short yellow bus. On my wish list is a brand spanking new KLDE. It's only $1990, and will make more power than any NA K8 ever will.

Yeah. Saw that too. That's just the block, though. The one I saw for $1990 included intake manifold, distributor, throttle body, all new sensors, water pump, timing components, etc.
