there is an ecu on ebay right now called KF01. Would this be for the KFZe or can you just use the KF15? Heres the ebay item

KF01 is automatic. KF15 is the ticket. Only thing I can think if need ASAP is contact some engine importers and see which ones also import ECU's.

How do you test an ecu to see if its working? is there a way to seee if it works before you put it in? (might sound like a dumb question but i dont have a clue about any of that stuff)

There are 59 pins used on the K8 ECU. Five are ground, the rest are signals, of which seven are ATX only. Many of the control signals are computed from several inputs. Without an automatic test set, you can imagine the problem.

There are companies which specialise in ECU repair, who will have the gear. I think that's the only practical way of getting a clean bill of health for an ECU, other than putting it into a car you know is running well.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)
