Ignition lead not flush....

Post by drafious »

My middle front lead does not seam to seal on the manifold. I am going to replace them, but would this cause the car to sputter when i remove my foot of the accelerator? It doesnt happen all the time just usually after i give the girl a bit of gas.

I guess I will find out when i replace them anyway, but if somebody can reassure me that would be great.

Thx.

Clarify your question a bit. What ignition lead are you talking about that connects to the manifold? Where on the manifold does it connect? Maybe you are using a different name for something, but I don't have a clue where there is an ignition lead on the manifold. Usually when you tap the gas and it sputters or drops in rpm without going up you need to adjust the TPS (throttle position sensor) You may also need to replace a plug or wire, or all of them.

I'm talking about the seals on the ignition leads that seal of the connectors to the spark plugs on the manifold cover.

If the lack of "sealing" indicates the conductor is not making good contact with the plug top, it could be the cause of your problem.

Btw, its the cylinder head cover ;)
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

The plug wasn't sitting right, i've since changed them for a new set and i'm off and racing again. :)

Now I've off to adjust my timing and see what else i can break. :D
