First Car, Looking at MX-3's

Post by Neil »

Hey everyone.
Ive read a few posts about what to look at when getting an mx-3 used thers 2 im lookking at right now. One is a 92 GS V6. with 160,000km on it and the other is a 94 4cyl. with 150,000km on it. the asking price on the 92 is $6,975 and the 94 is $4,000. Im not from the Vancover/Calgary/Toronto area but i thought it wouldnt hurt to ask questions here. My main concern is should i go with the V6 or 4cyl i would like to get the V6 but they seem hard to find in 5spd's around my area and all others i can find are 4cyl's. I was just curious what the big difference between the two were. And if thers anything else i should know please inform me. I apperiate all your time.<p>-Neil

brandon manitoba? they seem like alright prices... for a first car an mx-3 is alright if you get one with lower kilometers or else one that has just had lots of money sunk into it. Definetly go with the V6.

they are a ripoff in ontario
in manitoba they aern't...
proven fact... ontario uses alot more salt and cars usually don't last as long. Also in mid canada cars just cost more,

Whats up wit canadian prices for MX-3s?? I got my beautiful condition RS with a new engine for US$1500 and my nice condition GS wit a new clutch for only US$1500. I know those prices are in canadian dollars but that still seems pretty high. I'd keep looking if I was you.

5000 here for my 93 gs, and wish i shopped around, it was a lemon, so it probably cost me about 11 000, and this was just a year ago, but its alright now. With all the money I spent fixing it I could have a kit, painted, and ze.

Millage doesn't mean anything, so long as the car is properly fixed and maintained. I got mine 1.5 years ago with 326,000km and since then i have put new brakes and rear wheel bearings. It runs great.!
Have the car checked by a mechanic thou.

there is no way that was the orig motor......no way. a car to have the orig motor would have to be BABIED like non other to last that long and i highly highly doubt it.
i got a 90 pgt...but wish it was a mx-3 bp-t!

Well mine have just reached 220.000 on the original engine and like T-Rose' car, it just need a bit more oil. It still starts at first try every time and drives smoothly. *shrug* As long as you maintain it properly the K-engine is as reliable and strong as you can get an engine.
