DISTRIBUTOR MX-3 Mazda 1.8 V6 engine
I have a 94GS 1.8 V6, can I use a distributor from 1992 or 93?

Re: DISTRIBUTOR MX-3 Mazda 1.8 V6 engine
ok i've got a 94gs when my distributor went i tried several distributors from a 92 and probe, none worked so i bought a new distributor it was for a 92, i bought the 92 because they didn't have any for a 94 didnt even have a listing, this was at autozone.i never did get the 92 distributor to work on my car.anyways i discovered they have two different part numbers so i'm assuming they are different,i believe the one for the probe or 92,93 is tot57071 and the 94 is tot57171 ,anyway bought a 94 distributor from junkyard and it worked fine.this is just my experience, but if you custom used a 92 on your 94 maybe they do work, maybe i was doing something wrong.94mx3gs i'm very curious to see if the 92 works on yours, please post the results.
all i ask is that morgan die in a car crash

It can be done.
If you search there's a recent thread where IanL explain very carefully how to do it!

Well, that thread is all about 95-on distributors, which are different to the earlier ones. As far as I know, there is no electrical difference between 92/93 and 94.Originally posted by GuidoBiRiChiNo:

My guess is that the 92 disty's which didn't work were just - defective. Lots of folks get let down by re-manufactured distributors, so they're making it more convenient now - they fail BEFORE you drive away

Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!

Ive put a 94GS disty on my 92 GS, Ive put a 93 MX-6 disty on my 92GS as well..
Re: DISTRIBUTOR MX-3 Mazda 1.8 V6 engine
I am riding with 94 Mx-6 disty on my 92 GS K08 aand now KL-Ze for three years without any issues. The part number must start from KLY-..... for it to be an updated version. If it starts with K08(01)-.... it is older igniter that may fail.
