This is great...distributor AGAIN....HELP!!!

Post by goflutie »

Well I got my car back last night with a new rebuilt distributor. Put on about 40 miles and this morning its dead to the world with no spark. What could have taken it out?? You crank it a few times and the battery starts to die. Could a bad battery or alternator take out a disributor in such a short time?? HELP!!!!

Sometimes the rebuilt distributors are still defective. When my stock one went out it was replaced with a rebuilt unit that died after just a couple thousand miles, and had to be replaced again under warrantee. Warrantee or no, you are entitled to a replacement if the new unit only lasted 40 miles. Inconvenient, but with these ignitors it's just luck of the draw.
