Crank Pulley Bolt - RH or LH threads?

Post by jasonbierschwale »

I'm trying to take my crank pulley off to get the timing covers off, but the dam thing won't come off, even with my weenie impact wrench. Is the bolt reverse threaded?

No, if it was it could spin itself out.

Add a bar to the end of the breaker bar if the car is up high enough. What you are doing to keep the engine from spinning?

I don't have a breaker bar... I'm using my air impact wrench. So far, the engine hasn't tried to move with the impact. Suggestions on holding the engine in place if I go get a breaker bar...?

to hold the engine - take out the starter & jam a big screwdriver in the ring gear
