compression check - what would be expected?

Post by kneel »

I've put a tentative offer on a 92 , V6 , with 200KM on the engine, conditional on good results from a compression check.
What sort of reading should I be looking for?
I scanned previous articles, but most talk of 9:1 and 10:1... I think I'm looking for PSI?
Thanks

more importantly they should all be close to each other. if they all read 180 psi plus or minus 5-10 psi then things are good. if one or two cylinders are much lower than the other 4, meaning more than 20 psi, then something is not good.
There are a number of ways to measure compression. which way you do it will change the peak #'s. just be sure to check all 6 cylinders consistently the same way.
