strut bar on kl-ze
Re: strut bar on kl-ze
Tilt your motor forward?? ummm would that not 'cause some issues? It was my understanding that the motor should be level in the engine bay. Also by cutting your mounts that would probably make them much softer?
zevirii, thanks for the info, i'm going to order another bar (I sold the one I had) and take it to the muffler shop right next to the performance shop and have them bend it! Thanks!
Re: strut bar on kl-ze
not to rag on the idea of bending the strut bar or anything but i just thought id throwmy 2 opinions out on the table...even though the bend was little, any permanent bend IS in fact damaging to the strut bar but i wouldnt know how much exactly...also, you're bringing in the tops of the struts closer together when putting that bend in the bar, which is what you should be buying the strut bar for to prevent...but it will keep it from going any farther past taht point at least.
Re: strut bar on kl-ze
Very good point. So the best way to do it then would be modifying the brackets (Like Luc did) to give the extra lift for the clearance needed. I never thought of the bend in the bar actually making the bar a bit shorter putting them together. Make's sense.
Re: strut bar on kl-ze
now this topic got me thinking if the strut bar i bought (ractive) would fit over my klze w/ the curve manifold, but someone here told me that it would fit without having to modify the bar.
Re: strut bar on kl-ze
I can almost guarantee you that the ractive one will not fit. It BARELY fits over the k8 manifold. I've got the marks on my manifold to prove it. It would definately need modification.

Once you adjust each end its like you never put a slight bend in the bar.. Besides the bend was so small that you can't even tell a difference in the bar at all..
As far as it messing up the strength of the bar, you got to be kidding me.. The bar was staight at one time.. They had to bend it to fit your car.. Trust me the bar works great.. Just have them put a small bend in the bar and it works.. Now remember a muffler shop the bend, they have pipe benders there so no damage is done to the bar...
