LSD/ 1.8ltr/ 2.5ltr transmissions

Post by wkdmx3gsr »

I'm trying to find the LSD for a reasonable price and not as much as corksports wants for theirs. i'm still running the stock 1.8ltr trans and flywheel and it jerks a lot when in 3rd, 4th and 5th at low rpms.

If it's jerking a lot while in high gears and at low rpm, then I would either downshift sooner or check for broken motor mounts.
I would also search on this board for posts with "LSD" in them. I recall a thread not too long ago that referred to a limited slip unit for about $600.
StreetImports told me they would not sell a JDM LSD trans alone, I would have to buy an engine with it and even if I did that it would not have the axles.
[ October 31, 2002: Message edited by: pelado ]

its not my shifting and its not the mounts. i had all the mounts replaced two months ago with mazdaspeed japan mounts from corksports. new egr valve new oil pump, new idle pully, new mass air flow sensor, new kyb struts, new intrax spings and a ecu upgrade. the clutch is 2 years old but hardly had any wear on it. stage 2 dual centerforce it didn't do this with the stock 1.8ltr v-6.

centerforce clutches are junk, as for lsd you can get a phantom grip for a ford probe and get it installed, only places I have seen that have factory lsd tranmissions is corksport and streetimports, As for the drive axles if you get a japanese mx3 tranny drive axles are the same. Good luck!!!

go on probetalk and find the thread by jeff jeske. theres a machinist hes friends with that makes his own version of phantom grip. the thing with phantom grip and this guys version is that the spider gears in the tranny need to be machined down a bit for everything to work properly. this guy sells the unit alone for like 160 and with the new spider gears for i believe 260. u can even ship ur tranny to him and let him do everything.
heres the link
pg knock off
Dan

When at low RPM in higher gears are you dumping gas fast or you are being gentle. ZE is pretty high torque for a small car.
It is probably, bit not obvious is the ECU. You say it is upgrade. I tried few different on my ZE, some feel jerky like what you are experiencing. Need a different Air flow sensor for some.
Good luck.
