heater core leak ? Need info ASAP
I've notice a coolant smell in the ventilation of my car and i've also noticed that the coolant level is dropping( since 2 weeks, since the odors have appeared). I also have some sort of "foggy haze" in the winshield that takes forever to clear off when I restart the car after it's been sitting for an hour or so.
Now i'm almost 99% sure it's the heater core that's leaking some coolant in the system ( no wet carpet under the unit or anything).
My question are:
1)As anyone ever had to replace that on their car? (it's 570$CDN for a new one and about 70$CDN for a used)
2) Do I really need to remove the dash to do it?
3) If not, does anoyone have a better way to do it???
4) How long does it take
5) Am I completely wrong about the heater core???
Thanx in advance folks! Your symptoms are perfect for a bad heater core. I've never had to replace one in a MX-3 but they're a guaranteed PITA.
