2.5 fuel system on a 1.8

Post by chance »

Ok, so the heads can't be swaped but what about the fuel rails, fuel pressure regulator, or the fuel pump? Can they be swaped for 2.5 parts? Are they the same parts as whats on a 1.8? Would there be any gain to having more fuel at the valves if you could get more air to the valves by using a 2.5 throte body?
Also can you swap a crank for any gain?
Possibly make a stroker?
as you can likely tell i'm looking for cheap performance gains, since kl-o3 parts are easily obtainable for cheap here. People keep saying you can't swap any parts but I don't believe it! I'll find some stuff danmit!

why not just save up and by a kl-03 for like $500-$600 and swap the whole stupid engine rather than trying to swap parts?

Yes, if you could get more air in the engine, more fuel would be a good idea. The question is, how are you going to get ~40% more air in the engine?

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

Do not use the 2.5l fuel rail on the 1.8l!!
Im runnign the 2.5l fuel rail right know on my 1.8l because i will need it soon but i will tell you you will get a huge loss in power and the computer dont like it. Way to much fuel, at 2000rpm its running rich.

would swaping to the 2.5 throtle body and set up a ram air intake be enough to get a performance gain out of the 2.5 fuel system?
also what about a crank, can they be swaped?
