Engine Ticking

Post by millionflame »

A ticking noise has started to eminate from my engine lately, which the frequency of it increases with the engine revs. It does not appear to have gotten any worse, but it does sound like a serious problem to me. Anyone know what this is, and/or how to fix it???
Thanks a lot.
:D

ADD OIL!!!
I Know this made sound stupid because (hopefully) you already checked that but just try it. My engine was ticking for a week and I want to every mazda mechanic I could (after checking my oil 5 or 6 times). They all told me different things like "Well, its your oil pump, give me $1600" or "Its your valves, you're engine is just going to eat it soon."
After a while, one honest guy looked at my engine and told me that it was pretty much running lean... for some wierd reason my check oil light doesn't work + my oil stick always shows full (and YES, I know how to properly check my oil level).
I ended up hadding 4 contains of synthetics (i'm running synthetics btw... i'm not an idiot who just picks up a different kinda of oil from the shelf ;) and now my engine is running perfect again.
Dunno what damage that week of running lean did to it but I hope it last until the end of this summer until my KL-ZE replaces it.
Hope this helps.
P.S. Does anyone know (considering hopefully that my little incident didn't damage my engine) what I can get $ for a KL-08 with 160 000 kms that running perfectly fine with perfect compression???

I had the same problem. It's a loose cam shaft. It's about $1000 canadian to get it fixed!
