JET V-Force Stalls at 4200 RPM
JET V-Force Stalls at 4200 RPM
I purchased a Jet V-Force PCM, installed it and I get the check engine light on all the time and the engine stalls at ~4200RPM. Has anyone had this problem? Any way to fix it.

Is this a replacement PCM or is it a piggyback type enhancer?

It is a piggyback enhancer.

How does it work? does it alter VAF signals to change fuel and spark timing?

I used to know alot about MX-3's, but not so much anymore. Oh well.

It has a wire connected into the throttle position sensor, and routes the MAF sensor into the unit, by-passing the internal PCM. When you throttle up the RPM's are indicated by the LED read-outs on the unit. From what I understand, the V-Force changes air/fuel mixture and advances the timing. The problem initially was with the MAF not being connected well enough, I fixed it and that is when I got the "Check engine" light on all the time coupled with the enigine stalling at ~4200RPM.

Re: JET V-Force Stalls at 4200 RPM
The thing is, we dont have a MAF, we have a VAF, which has an output curve VERY different from a MAF. So when the ECU switches to the speed/density type fuel metering above ~4200RPM, this Vforce is likely telling the ECU something that makes it cut fuel. I have never heard anything good come of these type units on any car.

I happened to have spoken to Corksport about this issue and they agree with you. What do you suggest as a solution? I am in a quirk being I purchased the item off an auction.

Re: JET V-Force Stalls at 4200 RPM
It probably has a menu or instructions that tell you which type of air flow measuring device to use. If there is an option for "vane type", then try that one. If that doesn't work or isn't available, then put it back on eBay. After all, you bought and some other poor schmuck likely will do the same.

I'm lucky I stoped bidding, I was the other poor schmuk bidding for this on e-bay. $200 bucks was way too much for me, sorry it didn't work out for you thats shitty.

Thanks guys, I will give that a shot. I also have a call into the manufacturer for the problem. Might be back on eBay like you said!
