Rough starts. Ignition coil?

Post by A.S. »

Lately, my mx has been starting rough. I sometimes have to crank for a long time or do it twice or three times. It cranks perfectly, but it doesnt spark on time. My plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, and rotor are all new. Could this be a weak or dying ignition coil?

could very well be...did you try to test it with an ohmeter yet? I just went through all of that..exept mine was starting issues and running....now i am on the fuel system cleaning part...hopefully mine was bad , old gas...dirty filter and screen and the pump...but yours sounds like disty man....i just bought one for 155 at napa...55 dollar core or somthing like that...there was a small rotor one or a large rotor one...the only differance was 100 dollars..so i bought the small rotor version(whatever it was)<P>robert
